Adding life to years!

activitiesThe homes manager and the dedicated team at Westlands are passionate about giving residents an enjoyable retirement – full of interest, fun, laughter and memorable times.

It’s about enhancing the quality of our residents’ lives,” commented. “Many of our residents have been living alone and can really benefit from the interest and stimulation of the activities we organise. But for residents who don’t respond to taking part in group activities, we ensure our staff give them some quality one-to-one time.”

Westlands has a total of three Activities Co-ordinators, with one specialising in one-to-one activities with residents. The primary Activities Co-ordinator has a background as a carer and understands the needs of the residents and is continually looking for new and interesting things for them to enjoy – some of the regular activities include:

Tea Dances – Pottery – Quizzes – Arts and Crafts – Flower Arranging – Pat Dog Visits –

Seasonal Events – Exercise Classes – Regular Music Events – Visits to the local Golf Club

Many of our residents have had pets and gain a lot from our regular Pat Dog Visits as well as visiting organisations such as Miller’s Ark, Zoo Lab and Birdworld that visit the home and bring an array of interesting animals for the residents to enjoy.

Regular Music Events are enjoyed by the residents with an entertainer who provides warmth, humour, stories, music and the opportunity for residents to dance.
